Granada Hills, CA — Bethlehem Lutheran School proudly joined the community-wide celebration of Granada Hills’ 100th anniversary by engaging students in meaningful,
hands-on learning experiences that honored the rich history of the neighborhood.
Throughout the celebration, classrooms participated in a special “Then & Now” exploration of Granada Hills.
Guided by their teachers, students learned about how the community has transformed over the past century—from its early beginnings as farmland and orchards to the thriving, vibrant neighborhood it is today.
Students explored this evolution through a variety of creative and educational activities.
Younger students participated by coloring commemorative sheets celebrating the centennial, while older students dove deeper into the history by creating timelines, artwork, and written reflections.
These projects highlighted key moments in Granada Hills’ development and encouraged students to think about their own role in the community’s ongoing story.
“This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with the history around them,” said Mary Kandilian, Director of Bethlehem Lutheran School.
“By learning where Granada Hills started and how it has grown, our students gain a deeper appreciation for their community and understand that they are an important part of its future.”
The celebration not only honored the past but also inspired students to reflect on what makes Granada Hills special today—its people, culture, and sense of community.
Bethlehem Lutheran School is proud to be part of Granada Hills’ legacy and looks forward to continuing to educate and inspire future generations within this remarkable community.
